Christmas at Forthill

The Forthill nursery were putting on a nativity play and asked Grace and Lisa, both from P7, to narrate for it.  The performance was very good and all the money raised  from the ticket sales went to support riding for disabled children in the Dundee area.  The nativity was called “Mary’s Knitting”.  It was about Mary knitting a blanket for Baby Jesus so that he was warm when he was born.

Mrs Catto asked P5a and P5b if they would like to do the Christmas performance called “Bells Ring Out” and we all said “Yes” enthusiastically.   Pupils from the classes went for their solo auditions and soon the main parts were sorted out.  We have been working really hard with all the rehearsals and have now performed several shows.   We have ejoyed them all.

Primary P5b

The primary 5s have been working hard on a Christmas performance called " The Bells Ring Out! "  It will be the best Christmas show EVER!  We went to Central Baptist Church, the Anton Ogilvie Centre, St Luke's and Queen Street Church and a small group went to Lochleven Care Home .  We performed for our parents, grannies and grandads at Forthill.  We worked with Mrs Catto, Ms Wallace and Mrs Bryson.  We all enjoyed it and, for those of you who saw it, we hope you enjoyed too!

Primary 5a and 5b performed a Christmas show called
"Bells Ring Out".
We had been practising it for weeks.  First we met in the music room to listen to all the songs.  The second stage was to learn all the songs.  We learned all the songs very easily.  The third stage was to go to the assembly hall and practise on stage and imagine the audience was in front of us.  Then Wave 102 came in to record us singing  "Beneath the Stars".   We think it went very well.   On 17th December we had to perform in front of our parents and grannies and grandads.   We think it was great.  Our favourite song was "God’s Great Plan".

Primary 2 and Primary 3 have prepared a nice surprise this Christmas.  While delivering presents,  Santa will be stopped by a Michael Aspell look-alike with a red book, and asked to take part in “This is Your Life”.  He will meet his elves and reindeer, and be reminded of his rather large tummy and the trouble it caused.  He will also find out how upsetting it is to lose your front teeth and how impersonators sometimes get him into a bit of trouble!

This year our three Primary 1 classes are performing "A Wriggly Nativity".  Everyone has a part to play.  Along with Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the Wise Men, the shepherds, the innkeepers, the angels, special star and donkey, there are sheep, cows, donkeys, chickens, camels and stars.  The children have been practising their songs and learning their lines.  We hope everyone enjoys the performances which are on the afternoon of Wednesday 17th and the evening of Thursday 18th.  Proceeds from the shows will go to local charity, The Inclusion Unit.

The Nursery Class, morning and afternoon, had great fun performing "Mary Knitting" for parents, visitors and school children.  The feedback from the audience was very positive and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the singing, acting ability and the costumes the children helped make themselves.  The proceeds from the performances were donated to The Brae, Dundee Riding Ability Centre.  A very generous amount of £155 was donated.  Many thanks to all concerned.

What the children liked:

"I liked twinkling in my sparkly hat which I made for the Nativity."

"I liked shearing the sheep with the shears."
